This was really helpful. The twist on it that I have is rooted in a question I came up with: What is the relationship between an ellipse and the angle of a theoretical cylinder that passes through the plane representing the ellipse? In other words, could I take a cylinder of know dimension, rotate by a know angle, and from that determine the resultant ellipse on the imaginary plane bisected by the rotated cylinder.
