When I was in school many many years ago, I invented this exact steering wheel in design class, as a security feature. The teacher made fun of it and humiliated me Infront of the whole class, he also said it would never be produced. I was heartbroken. Then I went to my 2nd design idea which was a swiveling car seat to allow a disabled driver into the car, and worked on that for my project.
I didn't take much interest in design after that, even though i had many other designs. Another idea was a reversing camera which would show up on the display on a screen in the car, another one that went into production.
Seeing these designs in production makes me feel gutted.
I think i could have brought so much to the car industry.
I was discouraged by the teacher which completely put me off it.
