How to screw the ball back

Do you need to "time" the ball? No.
Do you need to hit it "sweet"? No.
Do you need to hit it "smooth"? No.

You have to do this...

I realised I wasn’t hitting low enough to screw back, I’d aim super low on the cue ball, thinking I had to hit it hard, then not realising I was lifting the cue up when delivering and just stunning it like you showed! Can do it every time now.

This is just great. Thanks so much for taking the time and trouble to show us what we need to do to achieve the results we want. Can’t wait for the next video.

You don't make things complicated, too the crux of the matter, well done sir.

The cueball has limited intelligence. It doesn’t know if it has been well or badly struck. It only knows that it is travelling at the correct speed, on the correct line with the correct spin. Nice one MH 😊

Cueball physics, no magic involved…..

I coached a beginner once, he could not get ANY screwback at all, turned out he was feathering low perfect, but when he cued the ball hit raised the tip and hit the center of the cueball.

I saw Jimmy white miss cuing the other day to the point he jumped the white over the object ball which just goes to show anyone is capable of hitting too low. Or does it? What causes the white to jump when cuing low. Im always worried about this happening or damaging the cloth. How low do you go Michael, and does the lower you go mean the more it screws back?

What's the ideal angel with the cue eventough i strike low on the cue ball?
Are kamui tips less suitable for screw back?
If someone can help me,
Thank you in advance 👍

Going to try looking at this for me. Some days im throwing the white all over the place, screwing back really far etc. Other days i feel like no matter what i do i cant screw back anywhere near far enough and its more of a stun.
Always put it down to not 'catching it well enough' and sometimes 'my tips not getting any grip' but im going to see if on these days im just not hitting as low as i should.

You hit the long screw back better than your normal cue action

Hey Michael. In English pool, when the top players want better stun, they grip the cue slightly tighter. This seems to cause the cue ball to stun better. I.e. they're trying to reduce draw, and stop the natural tendancy of the smaller cue ball to backspin. Why do you think that could work? The leading theory I've heard is that it reduces follow-through, but perhaps it could change the vibrations going through the cue into the ball or it could just cause them to hit the ball harder. What do you think?

I have a question regarding helping side. Would the opposite of helping side be referred to as holding side, and do you ever use it instead of the helping side?

I have serious power, and it's all about timing when it comes to me as I hardly hit the ball.

Hi Michael brilliant your back on the tour over the moon for you pal I was just thinking about hitting the ball like you said when its gone basically its gone so if that the case I must be missing because of my alignment or my fundamentals are rubbish when I hit the ball reasonably hard I normally pot when hitting the softly normally miss most times any advice would be grateful m8 cheers ps I've had a couple of big breaks over a 100 but mostly 30 to 60 in league games
