Projecting onto others that you’re putting in effort is a separate skill from putting in the actual effort, and it deserves to be honed just as much. ‘Cause we haven’t evolved to help people who aren’t lazy, we’ve evolved to help people who don’t _seem_ lazy.

This is true, and I would like to add something to this. I have been a career coach and a resume writer for 6+ years, and I learned that just applying for a job without using the keywords used in that job post and changing your bullet points to show that your resume is made for that exact job post, there is almost no chance of you actually getting an interview, so take sometime for each job you are applying for. HR will see that you have the skills and passion for this job instead of showing that you are interested in any job.

Gotta hit rock bottom sometimes. My life got so pathetic I knew I needed to help myself, but thought "I need someone to help me help myself" and that thought was the reality check that i just need to wake the fuck up and change because no one is gonna help me. If i can do it you can do it. One thing at a time. You know what you need to do...

"We've evolved to help humans who are not lazy"... idk about that. I often see the laziest ppl getting helped more because they're so used to asking everyone or master playing victim. On the flip, I've seen many ppl that are used to handling things alone & end up being turned down when they ask because there's a silent expectation that they're able-bodied & competent enough to not need help.

Wow, needed this for the situation that I'm in right now, makes a lot more sense now that I think about it because I too would do the same if someone were to approach me the way I've been to others until now. So thanks a lot.

Job fairs are crucial. Industries more likely to hire someone with less qualifications include casinos and industrial manufacturing. The reason I know is because I don't have a diploma or a GED and I've worked both (been washing dishes at a casino for the last 6 years - since I was still in high school. Manufactured gaskets as a teenager)

Don’t settle for any job you’re not happy in. Stay true to yourself. It’s simple really. If you need guidance go within not to people making millions off your struggle with content. If they aren’t guiding you to go within then your in the wrong place brothers and sisters.

This sounds good in theory, but when you add social anxiety and dealing with health issues for years just the thought of applying for a job sounds exhausting and borderline terrifying. Ain't no way I'm talking to my friends and family about how I haven't worked in a very long time.

A rare time I disagree with Dr. K. Your friends may be able to help you network to some degree, but really what most people need is a career counselor.

Really relate to this. When it feels like they've at least tried, you're so much more willing to support them. Do the work to get the work. 🎉

Yeah how does this work when there aren’t any jobs available dude. I’ve been out of work for a year, not even gas stations have been able to hire me

Hating laziness isn't evolved. We resent people who cheat, but "laziness" is a myth invented by feudal lords and busness owners to gaslight their workers into feeling it is their duty to work harder and harder. Laziness doesn't really exist. If someone doesn't want to put effort into things they're dealing with trauma and other demotivating circumstances.

I want a video cut of Dr. K where he does the "holding his chair with the left hand, adjusting his sitting posture" that he does during every explanation. Lol

I swear you said there is no such thing as laziness though. Most people don’t want to suffer they have adhd etc or depression or struggle with learning

So I've been a lazy POS all along, gotcha.

Kinda wrong on this one, there's a good chance if they hear that you don't have a job after applying to 400 jobs and you didnt get accepted to a single one you're just dumb, or a bad friend would think

You also need to approach the right people with your problems as always, some people are less likely to help the more effort you do
Not good people, but you never know
