NASA releases audio of black hole

NASA has released audio which represents sound waves coming from a black hole at the centre of the Perseus galaxy cluster.

Galaxy clusters often release large amounts of gas, providing a medium through which sound waves can travel.

The original noise is too low for the human ear to detect because it is 57 octaves below middle C, according to NASA.

The process of sonification was used to translate the notes into sounds humans can hear.

I always find it funny how the news tries to make things sound "New" as in how she says "The audio debunks the misconception that there is no sound in space." When I was in Uni in Canberra back in 2010 we literally went to the Mount Stromlo Observatory and at their lobby area had a series of audio clips from space that were available to be heard to the public. Yes this news is cool. But no, its nothing new.

"sound". needs atmosphere to travel and a human ear to hear, even so, it doesnt make sense this is keyed up to be within human frequencies and touted to be " sound from a black hole". this would be like increasing speed of time lapse photography of ocean waves calmly lapping at the shore and saying this frenetic frenzy is an ocean storm
