Reverend Rob Schenck, a former right-wing evangelical preacher, talks with his former nemesis Reverend Barry W. Lynn and discusses how Barry, along with other circumstances, helped him change his mind and see the light. An amazing interview that also shows how people with long established, hard line beliefs can change them and become a compassionate force for Good.

Evangelical Minister. Activist.
A Public Theologian For Today.
Positive, transformational change is at the heart of Rev. Rob Schenck’s life. As you follow his story, you’ll learn about the three conversions that shaped his accessible theology and now serve to inspire those around the globe.

Ordained evangelical minister. Impactful political activist. Unlikely film star. Inspirational author. Appreciative husband and father. Avid academic. Rob has played all these roles - and more - in his first 60 years.

Yet it’s his relatively recent return to the simple Gospel that first drew him to Christianity and the compelling call to reform that led him to found The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Institute that has brought him full circle to an inspiring message of faith, hope, and love that the world desperately needs to hear today.

Learn more about the transformations that led Rob on his remarkable journey from the epicenter of the religious right to becoming the reluctant subject of an Emmy-award winning documentary to his rise as a highly regarded public theologian known for his open and accessible style. And bring his inspiring message home – via his Costly Grace book or his podcasts - or to your organization through a Zoom or other video appearance or future post-COVID speaking engagement.

It's good to see people are still able to change their minds in such a polarised society. Better even that he owns up to it and confronts his past views. I think the way forward is to create the space for people to change their mind and this space is not a space of politics since in politics it's impossible to be wrong about anything.

First thing to diffuse the us vs them is breaking the two party system. Hopefully the progressive movement can break this dichotomy with the growing possibilities of left wing populism but I know it's far future speculation at this point. In the Netherlands we maybe have the culmination of the multiple party system which also has its mainfold problems with splintering movements and slowing down decision making but at least it doesn't fracture societies to the same degree.

I enjoyed listening to this interview.
Always like to listen to Rev Schenck (post-conversion).
He's such a delight!

The hypocrisy of the Evangelicals is unbelievably astounding and will constantly make God's blood boil (metaphorically) but we thank Him for always being graceful🙏🏽

Thank you for speaking your truth Rev Rob.
And thank you so much Rev Barry Lynn.

I want to post one of my usual "skizo-enfant-terrible-lol so random" posts but this is is so wholesome and hopeful that I just can't get into character.

I mean, you can tell his voice is broken as he reevaluates his entire life's convictions, even to this day in this very interview. This, this is what gets to the feels for me, the reassurance that the vast majority of people who believe evil things aren't evil, only confused.

Edit: Specially powerful how he describes everyone he thought as a friend, or "colleagially friendly" turning on him in the most vile way because he dared to step just a smidgen to the left of literal Orange Mussolini.

Nice of you to take one of your naps while not really sleeping (woke naps?) while these two gentlemen were speaking XD (See? I can take jabs without getting into character).

In order to let go of bad ideas, you have to have a genuine thirst for truth and justice. Most people just want to protect their fragile ego by seeking confirmation for all their beliefs and convincing themselves that theyre right about everything.

Right David… amen! Moving.
Leaves me with a yearning for all of us to find a way to each other.
And, to ignore those who want to divide us.

It is a melting pot people from different countries, religion, some maybe atheist all want live peacefully free from gun violence, we want our family offspring to be safe, we want our kids to work, go to school so that all can grow up and become decent human being. If some end up working for the government we want them to have the highest level of honesty transparency and dedication to the public and the rule of law .

Wow...got goosebumps from this one....left me totally silent.

I'm what some would call a Anti-Theis I guss....so on that topic I feel a distinct distance from the man....but his story and his person that came out of it...that touched me though.

Dadgum Good Interview. I had to go through this being born 1949 So after Reagan 1980 Election I started to Remove The teachings from 1950's 1960's and 1970's. It;;s hard to change but it is worse if you do not change! At 73 Years old I spend lost of Quality Time watching Feldman, who I learned about from Michael Brooks, David the Bernie Bro was explaining how Elizabeth Warren has a Plan.

When he said there isn't genocide occuring under the Trump following I beg to differ given all the shootings in places that clearly are not supporters of 45. I grew up in an evangelical household, I appreciate this interview.

I am a Christian who favors pro-life and pro gun laws. I am nearly the same age as these two gentlemen. I find the vaccine mandates as anti-life. I am familiar with every dynamic spoken on this video and it is a very good thoughtful interview. But these life Dynamics do not change my decision on abortion, how could they? The reason pro abortion activist are not persuasive is because they fear the real reason pro-life activist are pro-life. In regards to presidents. I have no affinity towards Reagan or Trump but most definitely their criminal behavior was minuscule compared to Biden and Clinton. If you were to look at the bad side and good side of Biden and Clinton, their good side is a sexual predator of children. Their bad side is more demonic than most can comprehend.
