If you're looking to upgrade your RV entry steps, this video is for you.

Back in 2021 I covered the pros and cons of two of the most popular stable step offerings on the market, the Lippert Solid Step and the MORryde Step Above step. Since then there have been quite a few upgrades by both competitors, so the question remains, which brand of new-style step is best?

At first glance you're not going to notice much difference between the two. They're both going to give you increased weight capacity and increased stability. They're both constructed from lightweight high-quality aluminum. They're both stowed inside on travel days so they're exposed to the elements a lot less. And they both have adjustable independent legs that work great on uneven terrain.

The 1st difference between these two models is going to be their specific size offerings as well as the overall step width and step depth. The 2nd difference is weight capacity. The 3rd difference is the ease of leg adjustment. 4th is the design of their quick release hinges. The 5th difference is the performance of the assist features. 6th is the way in which the steps and the assist features are marketed and packaged. 7th is the way in which the steps are mounted to the rig. 8th is how to determine which models fit your RV. And 9th is the difference in handrails.

So which step do you think is the winner here? Comment below. Would you rather have the Lippert SolidStep or the MORryde StepAbove?

And what features are most important to you?

Torklift steps were the best decision ever for us. It has all of the pros mentioned in the video with zero of the cons…perfect for us.

My only contribution to these steps is be wary of the strut assist. Mine broke after three years. The strut ends snapped during travel and could not be repaired. They would have to be replaced. This caused extra effort to raise the steps, and with no strut to hold the steps up, I had to bungee cord them to the bunks causing undo stress on the bunk ladder. Go with the non assist. They are light and easier to use.

Hi Chris. Watched both of your videos on the steps and you are a wealth of information. Do the steps lock into the door frame? If so does it cause any damage while traveling? Great video. These step look like a game changer for Grandma and Grandpa. Thank you.

Think you for the video do you have anything to deal with the big gap between the steps. it is easy for your foot to go between the steps.

the door jamb plates are putting my door in a bind and not letting it close all the way at the bottom, do I need to put indents in the screen door to allow for the thickness of the door jamb plates on the morryde steps. Thanks

The new design of Lippert steps are really cool. Any idea when they will be available and can you get your name on a list when they do.

I was looking to buy the Lippert solid steps and getting the lift assist kit with it, however I was dissappointed to find out the lift assist is no longer being offered and I could not verify if i would be receiving the newer revised model or the predecessor version. From what i can tell the stickers changed from yellow to red writing - but even though some websites show pictures of both - I cannot be sure its the updated verion. I cant believe they would not sell the lift assist anylonger, i wonder if they are waiting till the new model comes out?

Great video! I’ve used both step on different trailers and as of right now I prefer MORryde since it has the quick adjust for the legs but the new prototype of the Solid Step looks cool as well. Definitely pros and cons for both.

Do you think they Morryde handrail could be installed on the Lippert steps?

I like the Lippert step because of the larger surface areas, especially the top platform. I see the Lippert and the Morryde reviewed had quick release latches on the support legs. However Lippert is saying they don't offer that anymore and have gone back to the removable pins. At least their customer service agent on the phone told me that. How can I get a triple step with the quick release option?

Great videos! Your first one made me follow you and watch this one!

I’m looking for help. My inner door frame is not quite 24 inches. My dual step stairs are 24 inches wide.
Will the Lippert model 733931 work?
Folding into that door frame looks to be an issue unless the Lippert steps are less than 24 inches wide.

I haven’t gotten any answers yet.

@aroundthesunwego, can the quick adjust legs be added/replace the manual pin adjust legs?

Is this the MORryde StepAbove Gen 2? I see that the Gen 2 has black painted feet, and was launched in mid 2021

Wish Morryde had a kit to add “assist “ to the steps that came on my rig

My (2021) rig came with the Lippert with no assist and the pin leg adjustment. When I looked for the assist feature, I could not find it, So I ordered a MoRryde and then found out about the kit for the Lippert. To late

So here we are halfway through 2024 and still no upgraded model of the Lippert steps??
I can live without the quick release lever for the adjustable legs (although it seems like a good idea). But I do need to have the quick release hinges since I don't always have 4 ft. of space available to swing the 4 step version up and down again. My RV storage lot packs us in pretty close together... I will need to be able to remove these easily just to be able to get into the RV. I will just use a portable step when I need to do that I guess. Definitely one downside to this type of step.
Gonna call Lippert Monday to see what's going on with the upgrades that you showed on your video...

Lippert saying it's going to be 2025 now for the release date guess they have to clear out old stock first

we had the latest moryde steps, and now have ordered a new RV with the lippert steps, ...if the new ones come with that quick release for the legs we will be happy, if not, we will probably go back to moryde. That is the deal breaker for us, the legs with pins are just not the happiest.
