Even if The Outer Worlds will be a very familiar game to many players, those particularly that have spent time in any of the recent Fallout games. This Outer Worlds Getting Started Guide is aimed to inform you about a few things that might help you get off to a better start so that you don’t have to get 5 hours in, and then begin again like I did. This is the “things you should know before you play” Guide, and in it I’ll cover things that will simply make your first play through a bit more efficient, with little to no spoilers.

About this "Show Base Stat" setting: I wished SO many times in SO many games for a setting/feature similar to this, because i could never really tell directly, if that new +0 weapon would theoretically be better than my current +3 weapon if i upgrade it to +3, too...

The game is amazing, and I really like how much you can interact with your companions. They're so realistic here, and always have their own opinion about things and places we visit. Plus they didn't repeating the same lines over and over again.

Only a few tips needed. Follow your nose. Click on the journal. Click on the side quests. Go to the green arrows, complete the task. Talk to everyone with a name. Shoot everyone with a red arrow and red sight cursor. Keep your equipment in good working order. Tech an stealth skills a must unless you are playing a tank. Never play a tank unless you want perks due to faults. I think that is about it.


Also Obsidian has been on top of the cheats posted on YouTube so they don't work anymore (like infinite money). The most honest game I've ever played but stealing, lying and backstabbing is encouraged. You can get at least a 100 hours out of the game (at least on a console) if you do the side quests. It's also the easiest way to level up your character.


I tried for a sniper build but found side kicks to act as tanks in front of your ranged character seems to works best (side kick experience boost and side kick critical hit helps). Not sure but their equipment doesn't seem to wear out so buff them with good stuff all you want. They don't die except in nova which to me explains that smart choice is to never ever play a tank and let them take all the licks. They never complain.


Also sidekicks have quests associated with them so if you are trying to squeeze more experience points this is useful. This is also how I learned how to use the disguise that was confusing until sidekick quest came up.

I love the story and the humor so far. Dudes bleeding out and still giving me a corporate marketing pitch. The RPG mechanics are amazing and exactly how i imagined a new and unique improved system based on New Vegas. I only have some technical issues and one concerning not being able to remove helmets from companions, but it's such a minor issue that it doesn't bother me to much. I love the graphics and guns designs
