SoCal Mexican American here..moms never made that nor has she ever heard of this..we would get our bolillo from Elizabeth bakery over in South Gate, ca. and dip some frijoles and queso ranchero and that was it. lol anyone else ?

I grew up with my mom having Bolio on the side with frijoles and queso fresco and scrambled eggs. It’s cheap food that fills the belly up!

She got a lot of people mad about a sandwich! I’ll just say this. Growing up in Minnesota, there were a LOT of American cuisines that I never saw or heard about. Now I’ve been to 48 states, but there are probably still some American dishes and styles I’ve never tried. Even within regions, every family cooks a little differently. Just because you’ve never seen a dish made in a certain way, doesn’t mean it isn’t authentic!

Soy de Tijuana y nunca probé algo así a parte de las tortas ahogadas de Guadalajara y de San Juan de los Lagos . Imagino es una receta familiar y no un platillo popular. De igual forma se ve muy rica.
