I was looking forward to hearing more on the schematic design phase in relation to what the client wants. What happens before you put pencil to paper to come up with a concept? Consultation with the client etc..

When you choose the material, do you usually have a brand preference or do contractors make suggestions/give options?

I would have started with a brief of what should be in the final design.
eg. for a house, the budget, number of bedrooms, etc.

I went to college to become an architect and flunked out. I should've studied up before I started. I didn't understand the material, and I spent my time being anxious instead of starting projects because I had no idea what I was doing. Now I'm 28 and want a career, but I don't know what I want to do with my life 😔
