An important future investment is in industrial scale aquaponics facilities powered by renewable energy. This brings employments closer into metropolitan areas with year round employment and reduces imports improving economies. Although the plants grow floating on water, they of course actually use far less water than traditional farming methods. Spreading that technology across the globe will alter trade reducing many countries dependence on it, with them more capable of supplying fresh vegetables and fish for the metropolitan populations, as well as localized year round employment. It does require some developing to get it to industrial scale turn key operations that cab be exported to countries across the globe.
