Changes to RL Stine's books give us Goosebumps

R.L. Stine, the author of the wildly popular children’s horror series Goosebumps, is the latest in a growing list of writers who have had their work edited after the fact. However, unlike Roald Dahl, whose estate was aware of and approved the revisions to his work, Stine was left in the dark. What’s worse, the changes actually happened in 2018, and we—including Stine himself—are only just finding out about them.

Dale Carnegie's "How To Win Friends and Influence People", was heavily edited last year with many portions removed (I counted 30+ examples) and words substitutions ("not be able to walk" instead of "cripple", "house staff" instead of "servants"). The original text is now out of print, and the publisher is even using the same original book covers with the edited text. If you see "Updated For the Next Generation of Leaders" anywhere on the book cover, that's the sanitized version. Few people have noticed unfortunately. 😔

Isn't this illegal? How can they publish "his" copyrighted work under his name without his approval for revisions? They are misrepresenting his work and defrauding their customers.

Wait... Children are too fragile to read Goosebumps but they have the emotional capability of deciding what gender they want to be at that age. We are living in Kookoo Land

i don't think the cultures and norms change that much. they just identify "the bad thing" or "the bad people" make an insane call that something is harmful when it isn't. but repeat it enough ... and then people believe it simply by exposure.
