Brazilian women team don't have the resources, financing or the training facilities of Spain, they may not be up there in terms of tactics in general, so right now it's an uphill battle for them against any European team. So it's a very important victory for them.

Before the start of the semifinals, I already predicted Europe's goodbye, hoping I was wrong. But I appeared to be right... here's why.

Before the start of the Olympics, Spain, Sweden and Italy were battling for one ticket, while Engeland, the Netherlands and Germany were battling for another. All six nations would have the strength to appear at the Olympics, but only two tickets were available. At the same time, there were qualifications for next year's Euros, in which the top 16 teams are playing against each other in groups of four (inclusing Olympic hosts France). And Europe is also the continent to have the UEFA Women's Champions League. So to say: before the start of the Olympics, the European teams were already "qualified to death".

And now, we wonder why non-European teams are shining while two European teams will have to battle for bronze...

I am not sure how this is in other continents, but it seems to me that Europe is the only continent to put a high value to a continental championship (UWCL, the Euros). The Olympics are treated as second rate, with the additional challenge of having an 18-player squad (instead of 23-26) and having to play six games in 16 days.
For non-European teams, the Worlds and the Olympics are the primary place to shine, so they focus on that. And without the continental burden, the non-European teams can deal better with the Olympic challenges. With the USA-Brazil final as the end result that seems logical for me.
