Synchronized swimmers are amazing athletes. I’m so fascinated by their ability to hold their breath underwater upside down and still able to perform their routines.

As a simple quarantine YouTube wanderer who knows nothing about the Olympics: this was cool

Edit: this in no way deserves to be top comment

Let me get this straight; they have to hold their breath, smile, count in their heads because they literally can’t hear the music, be aware of where everyone is AND control their breathing? THIS IS PHENOMENAL!

I'm just impressed that they did all this coolness without having to touch the bottom of the pool

3:38 was insane, she still managed to make her legs looks like a mermaid tail. 💙

I’m not gonna lie: I really don’t know how I ended up on this side of youtube at 3 am but I’m not complaining

There’s something so... unnerving and alien about synchronized swimming.

I don't care. For me this is the hardest sport! Aside from being athletic and artistic, you're deprived of a basic human need: oxygen!!!

I'm an actual swimmer, and I have mad respect for synchronized swimmers/dancers. We can easily hold our breath longer than most of the synchronized swimmers (that we see at our pools, probably not these ladies) and probably can swim faster/longer, but we would never be able to do anything like this. It's a lot harder than you think to lift someone up out of the water while swimming. Also, they are really flexible. We were comparing our swim group with a synchronized swimming group one time, and though we could barely touch our toes, they easily have the flexibility of gymnast. Plus, they have to do everything in sync. I can't even imagine how bad we would be at that.
So much hard work and dedication goes to this sport, and I respect anyone that goes in it.

This is by far my most favorite routine and costume. AMAZING.

I feel like I’m not qualified to appreciate this sport for what it is.

Even they didn't win the competition, they got all of my attention for the show. Music, costume, coreography and their expression are so united. Love the crab and the dolphin sections. So autentic!

The amount of stamina this takes is astounding. The camera shots were amazing. Fantastic performance 👏

Finally, a version without commentary!

Even if Spain doesn't have as many high speed, high difficulty, high precision moves, their artistry more than makes up for it. Definitely one of my favourites of 2012.

I have to tell, YouTube's recommendations get weirder and weirder every day. But this one is something out of this world. Cant complain.

Intense enough to call it a sport, beautiful enough to call it a performance.

That was INCREDIBLE!!! I can’t imagine the amount of strength and coordination it takes to achieve that routine. I’d be out of breath.

If these girls executed this routine so exquisitely I can't imagine just how extraordinary their choreographer is. Kudos to everyone behind the scenes. They are often overlooked but I'm pretty sure it took a village to put this magnificent production together js
