Показать описание
Merino young ewes met a better than expected demand selling to a sale high of $238 a head on two occasions at Deniliquin, NSW store sheep sale on Friday October-14th.
The market toppers were offered as part of by the Shippen family, Moulamein draft of 1200 Bundy-blood 15-drop ewes that were bred on their Baldon Station, Leiwah and Bluegate properties.
Repeat Victorian and local buying was at the forefront of the competition on the day, which saw most other drafts of young ewes sold from $180 to $234 while the older age groups fetched $115 to $156 for 2-6 year-olds.
The selection of Merino wethers was limited with the recent inclement weather holding back many regular supplier consignments. A solitary pen of 16-drop unshorn Terrick-blood lambs was sold at $107 a head while Lone Pine's line of May-shorn 15-drop one year-olds went for $120, with both sold at restockers.
A small selection of crossbred young 15-drop ewes was offered at the market open, and these, although presented in outstanding condition, were conservatively priced from $222 to $231 a head.
