Speared a MASSIVE Pleco! (Invasive Removal)

One of the bigger ones I have ever speared. A bit bigger than a forearm. This is why you don't dump your fish tank in the river. #shorts

I love my pleco and I hate that this has to happen with this fish species. Since I see a lot of good fun facts here, I don’t mind sharing one… Plecos are only invasive because humans learned to breed and farm the hell out of these things and then sell them to people who are misinformed, or aren’t informed at all, on how big they get. So once the poor guys are too big for their human to be patient and make time to research, the humans throw them into LOCAL PONDS, LAKES, & RIVERS! Hence, if the boa constrictor isn’t on the “invasive species” list, the time is around the corner. We gotta do better. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I feel like some of us have accidentally found the way to be the imbalance of a once, perfectly balanced planet. 😢

Funfact:if you trow a huge rock in to a pleco it will survived many times

I would keep it as pet tbh thst mf huge, would hand fed him to get used to, i love plecos and catfish i tranied 2 catfish so far i scratch their bellys and play with their whiskers lol, but they on wild they have yo be hunted to help eco sythem

I know its invasive in your area but as an aquarist i find them so fascinating. I have a 9 inch albino pleco in my tank, names Sydney. Super cool but i agree theyre bioload is massive when grown out and they can be quite destructive to planted tanks and mess up the substrate. Also a large anough angry pleco will straight up have no problem wiping half your fish out as i found out when i first adopted him and drive him 2 hours to my house 😂 Still a cool fish though.
