Not picking the best talent and trying to pick a "team" is what has resulted in the main losses Canada has suffered. When the limited super talents get hurt of you need an extraordinary play in an important time you end up with too many role players. Canada learned its lesson in the late 90s and went against this idea - now we are going back to anticipating a team instead of getting loaded with talent first and letting the team learn to play together

Did cooper know they could pick outside of his dressing room

This reminds me of the Mens 1998 team Canada for the Olympics when they loaded the team with role players instead of the best players out there and they got no medals because of it. I always lean on going with best players out there instead of role players.

Did anyone check to see if Carey Price was answering his phone? I don't think any of our goalies has a save% over .900

Don't get me wrong, I like Parayko but I fell there were better D's then him and Jarvis is a weird add when you think of all the forwards that were not picked.

Seems like Canada is having to relearn lessons we already went through. You dont pick role players to be on a team when you have better options these guys are all amazing players if they need to they can play any role you want them to.

Evan Bouchard should be absolutely embarrassed he didn't make this team, and it was his own undoing. Last year he was amazing, and then in the playoffs he was even better. He broke the all time points record for a defenseman, was also very sound on the defensive side of the puck, by far the best d-man when it counted, in the SPRING. Yet somehow to start this year, he was absolutely AWFUL, and that alone left him off team Canada. He has nobody to blame but himself. And with Hyman? He needs to learn how to see the ice and actually pass the puck, one of the most one dimensional selfish blinders on players I've ever seen.

Leaving Bedard off the team is a big mistake. It's very reminiscent of when they left Crosby off the 2006 olympic team.

Weegar would’ve been a good addition, tough one.

1-0 final in Sochi? Do your homework Johhny... We beat Sweden 3-0 in the gold medal game in 2014. It was 1-0 vs the U.S. in the semis and yes... it was a tight game.

No sheifele but we got a slow Marchand and stone should be on injured reserve by February. Sorry but feel like an opportunity was missed.

They could have had a pylon in net in Sochi, they would have still won on their defense

With Makar on the PP Bouchard is not needed. Especially when hes awful defensively. Hyman obviously should never have been in consideraton.

If Binnington is the best we can do in net then we're cooked.

USA team is good enough that it could be anyone’s game between them and Canada. Teams are fairly equal and some would even say USA is better because of defense and goalies.
