Jesus Pwned Those Noobs: The Mark Series pt 45 (12:1-12)

This was an "in your face" moment between Jesus and the leaders of the Jews. But what strikes me the most isn't just Jesus' rebuke of the leaders, or how cleverly He does it (so that they cannot charge Him with a crime), or how Jesus integrates Isaiah 5 into this parable of the vineyard. What strikes me the most is how they could be totally aware of the failures of their forefathers and totally blind to those same issues when they were to be found in themselves. God help us to see our lives clearly, for we can all be just like they were.

This is part 45 of a verse by verse study through the Gospel of Mark.

Identifying the sins of others has always been a way to ignore our own. -M. Winger

Submission was maybe my biggest flaw (sin). I struggled with it for years. I loved God but not enough to allow Him to be my true savior. Although I claimed it, I didn’t live it. It wasn’t until 2016 that I finally submitted to Him. My whole life changed. I thank God that He kept knocking on the door of my heart.

Identifying the sins of others has always been a way of ignoring our own! Ouch….and preach it, brother! This is what we need to hear! God has enabled you to speak the truth in love. Thank you for your faithful obedience to him!

*This is the title and verse we chose for my husband’s business. Corner Stone Foundation. I love that on all business materials that is printed. We literally wrote Jesus on everything.*

Whether Jesus is LORD isn’t up to you! You have to submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. Powerful reminder! Thank you for boldly speaking the truth!

Whether you stand or fall on that day, know this, your messages have and do bless my understanding of the Bible. Thank you Pastor.

Bro, I LOVE the depth to which you pursued this one. Not just some surface level interpretation of what a parable MIGHT mean but the biblical connections to the chosen passage and the implications of the general subject matter for our personal and daily lives. SO good. Gimme more of this, please!

This one was a sombre study but all truth. Pastor Mike, you got me thinking about the past and my relationship to it in a different way. As humans we are capable of so much evil. Praise the Lord for his grace and forgiveness.

This yet again a rich Bible study. Learning the NT connections in the OT is mind-blowing. Thank you!

"It's not like I'm going to get an automatic "well done." It's going to be examined." Even when what you're saying is so close to the chest, you speak from the heart. Your honesty and your moral compass are why I like listening to you so much.

Just over halfway through this Mark series. It has been wonderful for me to have such in-depth solid teaching. For all those who lack discipleship in person, Mike's teachings are a good substitute.

I had control of my life for far too long, turns out I am my own worst enemy and I screwed up my life in more ways than I have space to Putting that control back in His hands, he took at least 10 years of bad decisions and turned it all around in under 2 years!!!! Of course, I am still a work in progress, but if I stay out of my own way and let God work, everything is so much better!!!!

“And you start thinking that you’re the judge of the church instead of God being the judge of you.” 🔥🔥🔥

Thank you for this call to humility. Seeing my own sin something I’ve prayed about. I’m fantastic at spotting the sin of others. 🙄 I do try to pray for them, especially if I feel convicted of being too critical so I’m thankful for those opportunities. And I’m also a great critic of the past. *sigh* I pray His Word continues to be a mirror in my life while He sanctifies me.
