VOLCANIC Smoking ALCO's Climb a Monster Gradient : Indian Railways

Catch the Silent ALCo Diesel twins furiously firing like a sudden eruption of a dormant volcano as it begins to notch up belching out loads of thick black smoke after clearing a Speed restriction point resuming back to its Permissible speed tackling the steep gradient, notice the two different levels in the terrain as the Locos struggle to pull the train up.

Train : 17310 Vasco - Yesvantpur ~Vasco Da Gama Express.
Locomotive : 13053 & 13037 WDG3A Krishnarajapuram (KJM ) ALCo Twins.
Location : Bhairanayakanahalli , Karnataka. South Western Railways.

Nice telephoto work. We used to have diesels not unlike those in New South Wales (Australia). Google the NSWGR 45 class locomotive. So much smoke got into their cabs that the railways union put a ban on them being used as lead locomotives!

Brilliant camera and brilliant use of camera and brilliant location for gradients.
I don't know which to enjoy more...the beginning or the end from 4:25 onwards.

Any idea of the gradient steepness ? It will be marked by the trackside by a number and upward arrow next to it.
