This is one of my personal favorites, especially the Honda version. Her vocals on that performance just slay me!

She wrote the song based on her dream. She just wake up and rushed to piano to write it after a dream :). And you really fill this dreamy vibes and images in the song. Of course love the song (as with Aurora songs and I agree with the live performances album :) ).

And quote from Auroras from interview about the song:
""Black Water Lilies was a dream I had. The melody was playing in the background. And I was dreaming that there was a hand, and I grabbed it, and it took me underwater. And there was a river, under the water, running down. And I floated on the river, under the water, and I came to this magic place with lots of black water lilies – floating on the water – which was underneath the water. It was a very strange dream. When I woke up I ran straight to the piano and wrote the song."

Aurora told The 405 that this song was inspired by a dream she had of "a magical land, filled with wonder." She sings of floating on a river and ends up in a place surrounded by a thousand black water lilies.
"It was originally seven black water lilies, but a thousand sounded better."

She said in another interview:

There are two songs from her EP “Running with the wolves” released in 2015 which you haven’t reacted to, as I could see.
It’s:

Aurora sings as if she’s a serial killer hiding bodyparts under her bed.
The song was inspired by a woman living in Auroras neighbourhood that scared the children (she wasn’t dangerous or anything)😅
Imo the best live performance of this is at the Lowland festival 2016

“Little boy in the grass”
She wrote this after loosing a friend in the awful massacre on Utøya in Norway, where 67 youths were shot and killed.
He was 17 and Aurora was 15😢
There are two great live performances, and both are great. They’re very different, but worth watching 👍❤️
