"Why should we care as Americans" he gave a nice answer but how in the world could he leave out the fact that we send billions and billions to this war

He has a much better perspective on the conflict than most political onlookers, but he's still veeery carefull in his words on Israels treatment of the Palestinians. Still, it's refreshing to see someone be way more nuanced about this issue.

Thanks for having Bremmer on, he is deplorably alone in the media with a sane, reasonable, and informed stance on the Middle East. More people should get to listen to him.

Appreciate this segment. Everyone should care, because we are all humans and this is a human tragedy on so many levels. I only would disagree on one thing: the ball wasn’t dropped in the last decade. It was dropped again and again over 75 years…

The silence from the audience says a lot. Being a reasonable and decent human and trying to digest the information Ian is putting out there is big enough reason to be quiet to actually think and imagine what it must be in reality. Respect!

I am so happy to see you had this voice on. It's so important that we remember that people are not their governments.

1. Doesn’t mention how Israel funded hamas to subvert a Palestinian state

2. Doesn’t mention the large death toll of Palestinians in the last 70 years

3. Avoiding social media isn’t going to solve the issue and social media literacy necessitates being on social media

If you're going to make a case for Palestinians we should not only admit the US has forgotten about their suffering, not only that Hamas shares in causing that suffering, but also that the US is funding Israel's side of the whole thing. The real problem on our end is we are too invested to stop paying for it, the US will not give up influence in that region for the sake of Palestinian human rights. Then when this kind of thing happens we like to simply point fingers at Israel and Hamas.

He's left out US involvement (and how our current tax dollars contribute to this), UN involvement (and how they carved out Israel), and how the British let this happen in the first place a hundred years ago. The Palestinians have been pushed out ever since 1920. He's left out how Israel basically encouraged Hamas to exist in order to destabilize Palestine so they can take the last pieces of it. He's making it sound like this started just a few years ago. If there is anyone to blame, its US imperialism and western imperialism using zionism to gain a foothold in the region.

Ironically and fortunately, we have comedians to put sanity back to this world.

Let's not forget that there have been rising tensions in Jerusalem and Gaza for awhile, now. I saw articles (mostly not from US sources, unfortunately) talking about issues disputes in those areas since about the time Netanyahu's new government came in. I am not at all surprised that something like this happened.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen the Daily Show do an interview quite like that, and I’m certainly not complaining

I was disheartened by most of late night show that I watched the past weeks. they just said we support Israel, then shoved it deep under the rug and not touch the subject ever again. Thank you for having this conversation, TDS.

Ian Bremmers’ understanding of the dynamics of the Middle Eastern region are on point! I also think his perspective on the responsibility we have cannot be overstated. We need to stand together for a peaceful solution and pressure Israel to negotiate a settlement… 🙏

This past weekend was my first time writing letters to my U.S. representatives, my senator, and even the White House to encourage a cease fire. The White House was the first one to respond. ☮️

I love Michael Kosta's work. He is excellent. No airs or arrogance yet; he feels real. Please give him the show, with Ronnie, Jordan, and Desi.

I love that I come to The Daily Show and Comedy Central for decent, balanced political opinion

For every number of civilian Palestinians killed in Gaza as the IDF roots out the 30k Hamas militants believed to be there, that's a whole bunch of radicalized anti-Israel member of a Hamas-like group a generation down the line. Nobody disagrees with wiping out Hamas, but reasonable people understand that indiscriminate "collateral damage" is a no-no.

Jesus, this a more nuanced and informative conversation than anything on any news network.
