Young and queer in South Africa: Why the Hate Crimes Bill matters
Показать описание
Crimes against the LBGTQI+ community continue to rise in South Africa, with more people being killed because of their sexual orientation. This year alone, 10 people have already been killed for being queer. Activists are calling on government to pass the Hate Crimes Bill into law, saying that it will help protect the LGBTQI+ community against homophobic attacks. Eyewitness News sat down with activists and couple, Jade Madingwane and Mangaka Molaqa, to find out what living as a queer couple in South Africa was like.
