Building upon the University of Michigan’s greatest strengths, we have defined a blueprint for how we aspire to teach and practice engineering. It includes three essential components:
- Excellent engineering fundamentals
- A convergence of disciplines
- Equity-centered values and global worldviews

Through our people-first framework, Michigan Engineering is reimagining and reshaping what engineering can be—at Michigan and beyond—enabling all engineers to have a positive impact on the world and build a future that will elevate all people.

People-first engineering launched under former dean Alec Gallimore and continues to guide our teaching and practice of engineering today.

I absolutely love Engineering! I'm an engineer myself and believe that Engineering is a truly amazing profession. It's always so satisfying to be able to successfully code and create something that can run and function properly. The feeling I get when I'm able to bring an idea to life is indescribable. I'm so proud to be a part of such an amazing and rewarding profession and I'm excited to see what else I can do as a part of the Engineering world! Thanks for doing such a great job of promoting engineering and making people like me feel like a part of a community.

You can see the bent of a trestle peaking through the trees at the top of the arch at 4:19. That's from the old days, when the engineering college an Tau Beta Pi was on central campus.

What project team is shown at 6:10? I'm thinking of joining one sometime, and that one looks interesting.

If there is one profession I trust, in general, it is the engineering ones. The initiative is to be applauded but why has it taken so long to recognise that all people should be put first? Answering this will lead you to the constraints you are seeking to work within, one of them being the current socio-economic hegemony - will you be addressing this in your programmes I wonder. But my main question is: how will you be measuring the degree of success of this initiative?
