I did a live with Jarred Land and Keiji Oishi (new ceo) and Jarred stated they were already working on a Z mount version of some existing cameras to be sold in parallel with the RF. RED will support RF for as long as Canon will allow. It will take 18-24 months for that Z mount to come though.

Man I’ll tell you what as a canon R5C owner that transitioned from Sony, it is becoming more and more disheartening supporting a brand that isn’t producing lens, let alone unlocking the mount..even after the push from their community. They definitely need to consider notes/ input from the community that drives them to that “number 1 camera brand” spot.

Am holding a 3kg full frame 6d with 150-600m lens with a battery grip, I'm not complaining, just go to the gym more and start using your arms for opening and closing the cars tailgate instead of using auto mode done! :)

Even now, EF lenses, which are easy-to-use lens mount for RF mount bodies like current RED bodies, are vastly more important than F mount lenses in digital cinema camera industry. For example, Blackmagic URSA Cine 12K full-frame cinema camera announced at NAB 2024 has lens mounts option including PL, LPL and EF mounts.
Filmmakers and videographers often use mount adaptors. While shorter flange back has an advantage on the body side, longer flange back has an advantage on the lens side. This is the reason why Canon doesn't release native RF mount cinema lenses. So, Canon has started releasing hybrid RF lenses for cinema and photo like "Z" series. Nikon could face the same problem in their cinema lenses.

It is smart to keep an RF mount as that means people with canon glass dont need to buy a canon cinema camera, aka Nikon gets more market share. With that said I still think they should also have a Z version for Nikon users who want to move to a cinema camera. Seems silly not to.

It seems unlikely that Nikon will keep the RF mount on the RED cameras. The only adapter which is not available for a Z camera is the RF-to-Z, and Nikon has to release RED cameras with Z mounts. Every other necessary cinema lens mount, including PL, E, and EF, can already be adapted to Z cameras. But the only way to put Nikon Z lenses on a camera is with a Z mount.

Looks like Canon is having a Boeing moment. Comments on Canon 200-800 Users on Facebook have reported returning their lens after waiting months and months because it won’t focus properly. Instead of a problem with shipping or manufacturing speed, it seems the factory just can’t consistently make it correctly. (2) I don’t know how many people have claimed to have a cold who almost immediately announced they had Covid. Take the test. I had it in February from a photo workshop. Also thanks for the cancer work. I started chemo this week.

Sony needs a 14mm zoom that takes filters. Every other full frame brand has one. 16mm is not quite wide enough; I'd always have to throw my 12mm in the bag and say goodbye to a two lens set-up to save weight. But I could probably get away with 14mm.
