Back in 2008, World of Warcraft was a dominant force that was unrivaled in the MMORPG Genre. With that amount of popularity, of course the game would influence and inspire game developers to try and cash in on some of that success!

But what exactly is a "WoW Clone"? In this episode of A Casual Analysis, we dive into the concept and look at old WoW Clones that are still alive today, 13 years later.

Thanks for watching!

Allods subscription server is a good game. The Astral and personal ships are such a unique concepts. Everything else holds up remarkably well too.

i remember playing Allods around 2016 until lvl 30, and by that level the pushing towards p2w was so bad i couldn't even complete a kill-quest by myself... i wanted something to scratch the WoW-itch, and found that it's easier to just go back to WoW :'D

I still wish Allods was more successful and popular. Despite the p2w Id still be playing if less people had given up on it.

Allods is my favorite MMO as unfortunate as that can sound. I pay the sub fee (6 months at once comes out to $20 so I can swing it on my shoestring budget) and have been leveling for quite awhile. The sub server has no cash shop at all. Only cosmetics can be bought and they have to be bought from outside the subscription server. Content is still rolling out thanks to a slightly larger population on the Russian Client. League (Alliance/Blue Team) has the most players by far on the Sub server, but I am always around in the evenings EST leveling something on Empire (Horde/Red Team)

After 9 Years of playing allods and 2 years world of warcraft before allods, Allods in comparison to WoW, Wow is nothing its basically Nothing compared to allods, The amount of complexity in it and airship stuff, the 2 faction+ its extremely competitive compared to Wow, in Details Allods Wins with a huge gap, But its p2w basically, u have no single chance to compete compete with other whales in it without paying, which makes paying for it a satisfying thing haha so u upgrade ur self and Compete better. iam still active to this days .. but i would say if they didnt find way to fox the p2w issue or at least make it reasonable at least it will die soon( it has been dying for a decade) but ppl still play including me :D ... If we removed the p2w system in it ? wow wouldve died years ago

Good video! I never really tried out other wow clones besides FFXIV (at least according to you and yoshi p. haha) and hadn't even heard of runes of magic weirdly. I do remember wanting to play allods back when I was younger cause I thought it looked cool and couldn't pay for a wow sub, but I don't think I ever got far in that game.

It's probably good you weren't able to play Runes of Magic, or else you would have thought Allods cash shop was nothing.
As a long time player who, for reasons unknown, still plays it to this day, it is the single most expensive game I have ever played, of course labelling itsself as 'free to play'.
You could play it for free and just go through all the quests and different zones and stuff if you wanted, but if you ever want to be at all useful in end game dungeons or pvp, you have to shell out actual thousands. You literally can not get end game gear without you, or someone else buying the in game currency to upgrade it. Then every time a new expansion comes out that gear becomes obsolete and you have to do it all over again. Granted that might not ever happen again because whoever designs the instances is actually stupid and made the last one that comes out unbeatable because the bosses are so much of a higher level then max player level that you can not hit them. And that has been out around a year without any fix. I imagine if they do release more content it will be higher levelled bosses still without a player level cap increase.
I could never recommend anyone to play that game, yet I still love it so much :(
