Silent Hill 2 - Suitcase Puzzle (quick guide)

How to solve the suitcase and vanity mirror puzzle in Lakeview Hotel in Silent Hill 2 Remake.

To unlock the suitcase inside Lakeview hotel, you’ll need to follow some photographic clues left around room 205. These clues change depending on difficulty but they all lead to the same place as it’s only the code they reveal that’s different.

The first item to obtain is a tin of red paint. You can only get to this after picking up the cinderella figure from a fireplace in the conference room. To get that, pickup the key for room 107 from inside the conference room and enter that room. Defeat some enemies and then pick up the fireplace key from a bucket outside.

Head back to the conference room and defeat the Mandarin which will leave a hole in the wall. Move a cabinet, then smash your way through the wall. You’ll find the paint can in the next room which you access via the outside decking.

Next, head to the utility room on the 3rd floor and pick up the bolt cutters. Turn right and head through exit doors which will take you down to the 2nd floor and give you access to room 217. If you’re playing on light difficulty, the can opener will fall through the glass automatically when you head outside. Otherwise you’ll need to shoot the glass for the item to drop below.

Make your way downstairs and enter the Lake Shore restaurant where you’ll find the can opener on a box. From there head into the gardens and cut the chains with the bolt cutters that you picked up earlier. Walk around to the fountain and collect the light bulb from the fish.

In your inventory, combine the pain can with the can opener in order to open it. Then combine the opened paint can with the light bulb. Return to room 205 where the suitcase and mirror is and replace the broken bulb with the newly painted one.

Two codes will be displayed on the mirror. If you’re playing on light, the code is Dark Wish, on standard it’s Deed Done and on hard it’s Love Lust. Use those codes to unlock the suitcase which will reward you with the Employee Elevator Key.
