Basic clean - what house cleaning chores should I include, and what am I expected to do? We Ask a House Cleaner about a basic clean vs. a deep clean. Does a basic clean include dishes, linen service, and ceiling fans, or are those an upsell?

It's a great house cleaning question for a #maidservice. Angela Brown, The House Cleaning Guru, says a savvy cleaner sets guidelines with the client upfront.

Hi Angela, i chanced upon your show and have been watching almost everyday for 3 weeks now. I love YOU. I love your work. I have a house cleaning company for 11 years. But i stopped for 1.5 years because I got SO tired. But ever since i saw you and your show, i got excited again like when i first started. You are so kind and generous to share your experience with us who are in the house cleaning business. I found the answers to the many questions that i have been asking all those years. I think i am going back to house cleaning again! I want to say "My world is a better place since i found you". God bless you : D

My basic is everything except inside appliances, inside kitchen drawers or windows. I will do 1 or 2 windows if the dog or kids dirty it up but no more than 2. My main focus in a regular cleaning will always be bathrooms and kitchens...light dusting and freshening up bedrooms, living room, dining room.

Your voice is so soothing and calm! I learn so much from you. As silly as it sounds, you make me feel like everything is going to be okay.

I'm learning a lot on your channel! I'm not a cleaner but I am a client: I have my own house, my short term rentals, and my long term rental end-of-lease cleans. So, I like to learn about the point of view of cleaners from the other side of the table. Check lists, though, are not really good for my cleaners. Some of them are just not very literate. I don't say that to be mean; I say it because it's just a fact. I've found that I just have to train them--and slowly demonstrate expectations--each time. I do know this: It's best to treat my cleaners well, pay them well, and give them bonuses for performance. It gets them to pay attention when I make requests!

This is great! I have had a customer try to squeeze in bedding when i'm almost done! No deal.

When it comes to vacuums, I feel like it all depends on a few situations. 1)Make sure the vacuum you're using is clean and empty, the beater bar is clean of hair/string etc and debris and the filters are all cleaned or blown out properly (BTW, you can use an air hose, canned air, or even another vacuum to blow or suck dust out of the filter. Just be sure to do the blowing outside). 2)Obviously, always vacuum your way out of a room. Find a vacuum pattern that you can stick to... left to right or vice-versa, a fan pattern, whatever works for you, but always corner to corner, wall to wall and vacuum your way out. 3)Make sure your vacuum is set to the appropriate carpet or flooring height so it has the proper suction. If it's too low or high, you're going to miss things.

Also, the first time vacuuming for a new client, I'd suggest taking your time with vacuuming. Over time, if you're doing the job completely and properly, the floors will continue to improve. Once you've gotten the home to the standard that you'll keep it at, you can vacuum more quickly than you did at first. Just be sure you're being thorough and not missing things because you're in such a hurry.

3:30 clients seem to think they can throw all tasks my way and thay it's all covered in the flat rate. Especially if they say" skip this do that instead" theybhave no idea we're talking apples and oranges not apples and apples. Ugh ....I need to build up my confidence. I keep getting taken advantage of or losing clients 😥
5:10 so just say no?
You're amazing. I want to be smart and strong like you. ❤ today was a bad day. I'm grateful to have you to learn from Angela. God Bless.

This a great video because it ties in with the video about what is important to your customer. If your customer has a real pet peeve about baseboards you better include that in your price because you may have some long visits each time. That also needs to be explained upfront because if you have a customer down the street with the same size house but hers is 30 dollars less the other customer may want to know why. You have to be upfront in those situations because you don't want to crawl around 3000 sq. feet of baseboards for nothing extra.

Has anyone else ever had customers that were relatively tidy at the beginning become complete slobs after awhile? Like it went from breakfast dishes, to a weeks worth of dishes, the bathroom went from a wet towel on the floor, to unflushed toilets, laundry everywhere and trashcans that are now left to overflowing? Makes things awkward when you have to confront them about it.

I’m not a house cleaner by trade, I just like your videos. I live in the high desert and so I have both dust problems and critter problems. Hahah
