A promise of reconciliation. Kenya's President Kenyatta and opposition leader Raila Odinga agree to put last year's bitterly contested elections firmly behind them and resolve their differences. Staying in Kenya, the US Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, visits Nairobi on the 2nd leg of his African tour. And as the world celebrated International Women's Day this week, we bring you a report on one of the many women excelling in male dominated professions.
But first, "we've come to a common understanding". The words of Kenya's President, Uhuru Kenyatta, this Friday during a surprise meeting with opposition leader, Rila Odinga. Calling each other "brother", the former arch rivals vowed to reconcile, following bitterly contested elections, which turned deadly in 2017.
The US's top diplomat, Rex Tillerson, is also currently in Kenya. He's there as part of an African tour, which he kicked off in Djibouti today. Earlier, Tillerson praised President Kenyatta for his efforts with Rila Odinga.
International Women's Day was marked worldwide this week. France 24 reporters headed to the town of Menaka in northeast Mali to see how it was celebrated there. Five years ago, the French army intervened there against Islamist militants.Today, the terror threat still looms large, but women say their real struggle is about gaining equality.
