Mwai Kibaki served as MP for five Decades and opposition leader .

The 50 years include his time as a Member of Parliament, Minister, Vice President, leader of government business, leader of the official opposition, and President. He rose from a humble background, the son of peasant farmers who much to the shock of many, rose to great prominence both politically and academically in post-independence Kenya.
