One of the things that's very unique about Yangchen from a real world perspective is that her name when broken up are two styles found within the Martial art of Tai Chi (The inspiration behind water bending).

Yang is the most popular and well known style within Tai Chi and the most practiced form (to my understanding) is the yang style 24 which was created back in 1950's and is briefly seen in the show avatar the last airbender when master pakku makes his debut with that performance.

This is then referenced again with Katara when she was trying to practice the Water Whip move. In real life that move is known as the Single Whip or 单鞭 Dan Bian. Katara also briefly displays an aspect of Chen Style Tai Chi when she puts the water in a Jug but I'm unsure the name of that move because I don't practice that style.

The other forms that exist to my knowledge are the 8, 108 (the family form), 48, and the 60 posture (formally named the 37).

The most interesting part about Yangchen was how she was haunted by the voices of previous avatars and even had epileptic fits from the experiences of them. Wonder why Aang or korra didn’t have them

Tbh I find it odd that Yangchen neglected the sprit world as avatar. Airbenders were the most connected with the spirits back in the age of Lion Turtles, and they all focus on spiritually lol
