Fimi X8 Pro - review

A critical review of Fimi's latest drone release, the Fimi X8 Pro, evaluating its current strengths and weaknesses.
The Fimi X8 Pro is an outstanding drone to fly with an excellent appware package, but is let down by a number of issues.
Poor quality of standard image profiles eg: imagery is overexposed, with poor contrast, shadows & highlights.
Fimi has not set up standard image profiles to be user friendly straight off the camera.
It appears no raw images are available at the moment.
It may be hidden somewhere in the photo menu & I'll need to search more.
Additionally the Fimi Navi 3 app is full of bugs.
Some intelliegent flight modes are not working and the app locks up when trying to use some of the intelligent flight modes.
Hopefully Fimi will resolve these issues soon.

Hello! Few weeks ago arrived the firmware update. Did the update improve the poor image quality? In principle, it should be better than the x8 2022 version

Nice review Ross, you really went over everything on the drone and app. It seems to fly very well, and is very full featured. But it need an App update and a firmware update to sort those bugs out. And the camera software needs a lot of work. It's hard to call your drone a "Pro' model, and you don't even off RAW photos. Great video, and thanks for sharing.

Both FIMI and Hubsan produce top quality drones that can easily compete with DJI - both companies however fall to pieces when it comes to customer support, product quality control, and big fixing both firmware and app

What would be intersting for me is does it have RAW/DNG Photography for taking photos?
And in the automatic modes, maybe you have tested it out, when its following you, and the object awereness detects something, can it just continue and fly aroud it and keep following you or the ovject you marked?
That would be really interesting!

In the earlier X8 SE drones raw (DNG) is only available when you select the 12MP image size

Fimi has all those new features, and the camera quality appears to be the same as the 2020 version.

Awesome video here mate very impressed.
I have a 2020 X8 and was looking at either a mini 3 Pro or the X8 Pro but I am chasing someone's opinion who has played with the X8 Pro.
My previous drones were all Mavic and I was certainly impressed with the ease and customisation of their flight software as opposed to the very basic X8 app.
I guess I'm wondering if the upgrade over the X8 is warranted with the XA Pro or do I keep the X8 and go with the Mini 3 Pro

Very informative video, this drone is very good, but one thing bothers me, I haven't seen the option to record 4K/60FPS anywhere, everything is only in the 4K/30 FPS variant, this FIMI x8 PRO drone should support this new feature, or is it all just false advertising, the flight altitude has been improved, I haven't seen the distance up to 20KM anywhere, but the old variant from FIMI x8 SE 2022 remains, can you explain this to me, I'm buying this model, but I want to have 4K/60FPS, a flight altitude of up to 800m and a distance of at least 10 km..

Very good wow. I like that you can use google maps. You can’t do that on Dji rc!??
