The Air Jordan 2 doesn't get the attention it deserves. When I say that it failed, I mean it was a "commercial" failure. The history of the Air Jordan 2 spans over 20 years and it still viewed by many as the black sheep of the Jordan line. I am 49 years old. I have been wearing Js my whole life...starting with the Chicago 1 in '85. The one pair that eluded me from the 1 to the 11 growing up was the 2. 35 years later I copped the Chicago 2 'Reimagined'. I cannot stress what a gorgeous shoe this is in hand.

I think the 2s were the most innovative and therefore deserving of the most respect for blowing everything up. The 1s aren’t too much different than the Air Forces or Dunks for the time but the 2’s were totally original and different from the prevailing bb sneakers silhouettes. On top of that, no swoosh, which seems crazy. From there you can see the evolution into the 3’s then 4’s, my two personal favorites. I really never got why the 1s were a big deal. Could have just as easily been AF1s, Dunks of whatever 3 eyelid shoe in Bulls colorway. The 2s set it off.

2’a are the most underrated Jordan ever, and I didn’t like them at all till I got a pair in 04, I was in 7th grade and man they became one of my favorite shoes ever, listened to Curren$y say they one of his favorite Jordan’s. Funny thing I bought a pair randomly and went to a Curren$y concert that day and he ended up signing them that day.

The Jordan II would sell like hotcakes if they did premium material fashion house collabs with them. People would buy just for the hype. Imagine a Gucci or Versace rendition of these.

The only "failure" of the 3 is to be an extremely warm shoe, I cannot wear it for more than two hours. For what I remember it's like that because it's heavily padded at Jordan's request after the injury in the 1.

I never understood why the 2s are so unpopular compared to the others. It still remains the only Jordans that I've ever wanted. The black sole stripe and black laces are so distinctive, nobody wore black laces on white during that time except Jordan. When you see a clip from an old game, you know what year it is when he wears the 2s, the next six seasons all look the same from afar. I never could afford them when thet came out but I had a pair of British Knights that were white with a black stripe on the sole with black laces. It was the closest i could get. Still Jordan's coolest look.

The Jordan 2 is one of my faves. The design was ahead of its time. That's what makes the 2 unique. I hope Nike release them again. Also my man you left out why they never released a black colorway; and how it was possible later on Peace✌🏿
