This is why the TaylorMade Qi10 Max is different.

I once let a good golfer friend use an old set of my clubs. After watching him hit a few times I told him those clubs, never did that for me! The lesson is that any clubs in the right hands mostly work! However, it still doesn't mean we won't keep buying new clubs! Thanks for the review!

Firstly I am really pleased and impressed with the improved quality of the videos, even the beautiful music in the background while you are talking gives the video a real warmth and is a joy to watch. As for the golf clubs this year, I don’t see anything that jumps out at me and when I looked at the swing speeds that all the YouTube testers swung the clubs out last year which is basically the same as this year and I see the numbers on a lot of the drivers overall are down, especially to the distance as we saw him drivers from 3 to 7 years ago even back to the 2017 Taylormade M1 and Callaway Epic Max LS days… it seems the focus is on forgiveness but the real bombing drivers has been lost. Since most of these drivers in Canada this year will set you back with tax is almost $900, I certainly don’t see any numbers that impressed me enough to want to empty the wallet although they look very nice and for someone that wants the latest and greatest I take my hat off to them let them have it. I am very happy with what I have but I do enjoy watching these reviews as it always makes anybody curious. Great work Andy!

Great honest appraisal pointing out what it is. 10K resists twisting on off centre hits. Hit the middle no difference, shorten the shaft hit the middle. Lengthen the shaft, get more speed and utilise the extra forgiveness, this is what Mizuno have done with their Max. Your club still needs to be pointing in the right direction, less twisting may even lessen the gear effect, and some at lower speeds might need more spin. As you ended getting fit is the best solution, video's like this give you the homework before you're fitting.

On point assessment!!!
I haven’t seen a review for 2024 product that would indicate that I should upgrade. And I’m talking about all categories.
I.e. Mizuno 225 vs 245. This years 245 are slightly smaller, sound harder and get more spin. Those are boxes that I don’t want to check for my game. Like this one Many more examples.
Andy, so far this year you have been the only reviewer who has had the courage to call it like you see it on the data or based on your own qualitative qualifiers like sound or feel.
Kudos from me!!!

I play(ed) a Titleist TSR2 and LOVE(d) it, when "I'm swinging my driver well"!!!
Sure we've all said this about our "driver/driving" :))
For the record my clubhead speed (i practice once a week with a launch monitor) is between 103-110mph - average say 106mph. Last week played with a fella that Qi10 Max- that day my drives were pushes right - he said have a bash with mine - INSTANTLY from address felt SECURE and CONFIDENT! and BOOM beautiful almost straight flight - i thought Adam Scott had hit it for me!!!
Played with it four for holes and each one, even though one off the toe, one off the heel, one low and one middle - ALL went straight down the middle with high BOOMING flights, one with a delicious draw!
So I went home and bought one from eBay - same shaft and loft.
I'VE NEVER hit a club that is SO CONSISTENT -that gives me the feeling of security and freedom to smash the living sh*t out of it :))
CONSISTENCY IS KING!!!
Taylormade, sorry Titleist!

I’ve seen many videos on the new driver but yours goes beyond those. I’m glad you figured out the max is more forgiving on off center hits. I heard Nelly Korda get interviewed over the weekend. She just switched to the max. Said she gained club head speed and her misses are straighter.

At 1:17 wow is that the Max vs old HD? Huge different in face height.

Thanks And. Simple, straight to the point, and you highlighted one point in particular that other reviewers aren't raising - slower swing speeds (i.e. the average) gain smaller benefit from 'forgiveness' than faster swing speeds.
Fewer than 10% of all male golfers have a handicap of 5 or better and average swing speed over 100mph. 65% of all male golfers have a swing speed of 95mph or slower. So, as you have just demonstrated, at least 65% (and as many as 90%) of male golfers will gain little benefit from increased 'forgiveness' or MOI. We are 'sold' the dream so the manufacturers can sell the clubs.

Always like what you have to say Andy. I recently purchased a new set of 243 mizuno irons, finally swapped out my AP2s . Just waiting on delivery. And I'm gonna go for a fitting on a new driver soon too. The ST190 is gonna be going! This will defo be one to try 👍🏻

Hi Andy, another class review, there are a few people suggesting shortened shafts. My experience is a bought a PXG 0211 with reg shaft and 1 inch shorter, hoping it would help me be less wild.
I gained some improvement and working with my pro in lessons narrowed the dispersion but my bad shots were still Too frequent.
A fiend went south with his driver head I think to elite performance and he was re fitted with a new shaft ( he’s 72) looking at senior swing speeds etc. came back with a 45g shaft.
My game better if I swing slowly so I picked up a G425 max, 40g shaft senior flex? Standard length All weights set to draw bias. The difference is amazing hitting 5 out 7 fairways on good rounds making the game so much more enjoyable.
It will take a lot for me to move away from this driver, aiming for a handicap in the teens this year hopefully lower than bogey golf.
Sadly I think too many manufacturers have to bring in new models as know we golfers have magpie eyes and like shiny new things

I’m not sure if you mentioned it, long day, but the Qi10 Max adapter makes the shaft play 1/4 of an inch shorter so your shorten shaft was even shorter in the max and would play shorter in a regular size shaft compared to other heads.

Great video as always!

That makes a lot of sense about better players getting more benefit from the max, Chris Ryan has just done a good video on him getting fitted and he ended up going for the max over the standard and the low spinning model

Another good review And. The whole Red v Blue thing is an issue for me ... that is funny.

Evening andy, totally agree with what you say. I am currently using a stealth 2 hd with a 1/4 inch shorter dianama shaft custum fitted by taylormade at the belfry by the Taylormade tour truck guys. My local fitting pro has also said that i will struggle to find much if any difference between my stealth and a qi10. But if anyone is in the market to spend a few quid definitely get fitted and try other brands at the same time.

Andy, this was incredibly helpful and timely. Currently have a Ping G430HL Max in the bag (shortened shaft), am a senior and slow swinger (not to mention still in the initial throes of taking up the game). Unfortunately, I bought the club "off the rack" as it were, not thinking a fitting would have yielded much difference in my experience with it. After recently going through a proper fitting for a PXG 7 wood and seeing how changes of shaft and weights influence both performance and confidence in ball striking, I'm now thinking that I should get my relationship with the Ping assessed. That said, as I contemplate doing that, I'm also contemplating the possibility I could be led to a different driver altogether, which then leads me to the temptations these new driver iterations present. Your review has brought me a bit back down to earth with respect to any expectations I may have had that the new drivers might necessarily offer me material improvement in MY OWN performance. We'll just have to see what the session with the driver "marriage counselor" brings to light. Thanks for the continuing great content. All the best.

Great review, as usual. As I have your same swing speed and as I always used a 1 inch shorter shaft, I'm very curious: what was your gain in carry and total distance, with the longer shaft on the 10K?
If you had a sensible increase, along with consistency due to the new technology, it might make sense to upgrade my M6.
Thanks for your reply.

Brilliant video Andy I currently play TM m4 d type driver but I want abit more modern to hopefully have better forgiveness and more yards. Watching your video as turned me away from the QI10 and get a second hand stealth 2 to save my money. My swing speed is around 98-102 so am not sure if I need the standard stealth 2 or the hd. When I read up hd is for slower swing speeds and am not sure if my swing speed is classed as slow or mid?

Again brilliant honest review as always 👊🏻

Your reviews are always helpful. Thank you for doing them. They mean more to me than pro golfer assessments. 👍
