The HydraShock's front and back drivers may have a certain niche appeal. But the X10's side and rear passive radiators also give it a nice 360 degree "thump". To me, the X10 is the clear winner here.

Maybe setting the Hydroshock on end and facing you would have been a better way to test it... that would make it more directional like the king.

Well from my ears I hear the hydra shock has better detail and the w-king sound a bit harsh also I hear the hydra shock is only 45 watts and the w-king is 70 watts. Hydra shock for me quality over quantity.

Kinda funny -- W-king sounds a bit better at low volumes with too much bass for most real enthusiast -- Altec sounds a bit fuller all throughout when at 80 present - Im listening for musical quality and not muddered bass that overrides sound quality - Pretty odd ! - with most - louder always sound like its better - especially when it comes to sloppy bass crap -- which is false - and bass takes more power to produce - bass is suppose to be low - not loud - people are fooled very easily it seems - but to each his own of course -- ahahahaha - and changing tracks was not a good thing for this test - more complicated music would have been the deal -
