You're not allowed to escape from prison. You're just not being punished for it.

In fact, it is legal to flee in Germany and cannot be punished, that applies to every type of escape. The reason for this is that in Germany freedom is a human right. It is also clear that if you commit crimes while fleeing, they will of course be prosecuted.

Breaking out of prison is only legal here in Germany if the prisoner does not damage anything and does not do violence to anyone. If a prisoner escapes because the guards were careless and the prisoner is caught again, then he only has to serve the remainder of his sentence. But then there is no penalty for the outbreak. BUT only if the eruption was peaceful! After all, the state does not want to accuse citizens of instinctively wanting to be free. Not even the prison inmates.

5:38 why should ppl mention this when they say its legal to escape prison? if you break out and get cought you wont get additional charge (except for the stuff you broke etc. while escaping) but that doesnt mean your previous charge magically disappears just bacause you were able to break out

I once heard of a prison break where an inmate went to see a doctor outside the prison, under guard of course, and escaped through a window in the toilet.
In the case of minor crimes, there is also the so-called open prison, where the prisoner is allowed to leave the prison during the day and do his work, for example, and he has to come back to prison in the evening. Here, of course, escape is very easy.
If someone is caught after escaping from prison, he can no longer hope to be released early for good behavior.

How can this guy buy a plane in prison? Does the plane spawn in there or how did he get that?

It's not legal. They will hunt you with everything they have. It just won't be punished as an extra crime itself... but when you steal a vehicle or hurt someone while escaping it will be used as new committed crimes against you obviously. Only the "escape" itself is not used to make a prison sentence longer. So in certain situations it's basically legal to try to flee.

It is not possible to escape out of an german prison without committing a crime or at least a misdemeanor. Because if you escape wearing your prison clothes, you are committing theft, and if you flee naked, i.e. without your prison clothes, you are committing "causing public nuisance"

To put it in one sentence "you cant be punished for trying to escape, as its a human instinct to be free" the escape itself is not punishable..but if you damage stuff, hurt people etc in the process..thats another story. And if you successfully escape, its not like "oh..he escaped..now he is free" like a monopoly get out of jail card. You will be hunted, but when they catch you, you wont get extra time for the escape..only for the stuff you did while escaping.

It's theoretically legal... as long as you manage to do so without committing any extra crimes. Safe to say, it's near impossible to do without extra crimes, with empathis on "near"

It is simply not a crime, you still aren't supposed to do so and the Police will put you back in, you would just not get additional Years

Its more like a grey zone. When you helping someone to breaktout u can get charged for 5 years

I would bet that some have escaped prison and are still on the run.

Why would you think if somebody escapes he won't be hunted down by the Police? They also did it this year when a killer jumped out a window in a room and fled through the country for 4 days. He was then caught. For that time everybody was extremely scared because they feared he would kill them.

It's more difficult here because you have to wear prison clothes and they belong to the prison. That would be “theft”. So the guy in Mexico would have to do this naked.
