These Graphic Settings Will MAKE YOU BETTER - Apex settings 2022

Ottr goes in depth on how to minimize apex legends stutter and input lag, giving an edge on the battlefield.

There are a lot of apex legend performance and FPS optimization guides, this one is a bit different. Many people have tinkered with max fps and V-sync, but not many have really went further to minimize stuttering, FPS spikes, drops and input lag, all these things can be very important especially for those who want that competitive edge and become the apex predator.

Apex has a problem with anisotropic filtering, even trilinear. Only happens in very heavy grass areas like in olympus. If you are using a monster of a graphic card, well, you will get a fps hit but not very noticeable, but for those hanging around 100 most of the time, turning the filtering to bilineal makes a huge difernece (it is the only ever game where i have found this diference). Literrally, from 50s fps in the grass areas to 80....

Btw. If you can't get the "Set up Gsync" option to show up, you may need a display port cable as Gsync apparently doesn't work over HDMI.

Every guy I know that is cracked at the game is playing at 240fps while my PC barely can do 80 on lowest settings. Still better than console though lmao.

As a member of the console community, gah damn that 47 fps in the thumbnail looks smooth 🙇‍♂️

Thanks a lot. My fps is still at 110-150 but feels wayyy smoother than before. I have just felt this kind of lag in fps without the numbers of it changing. This just made it all go away

you can disable shadows by changing "setting.csm_enabled" "1" in the videoconfig file to "0" and making the videoconfig read only in the properties :)

after following many, MANY guides, i’ve gotten from a 120 fps to a consistent 200fps. everything in this vid is super helpful.

Dude, this helped me SO MUCH! btw, I am no where near anyone's skill level here. i'm really bad at the game, BUT!!! seeing that smooth 120 FPS, and i don't see it going up nor down is a VERY BIG HELP. If I get to see someone jumping over me, the usual settings bumps the FPS to high to low, to high numbers. but now it's BUTTERY SMOOTH! Thank you so much Ottr !

Depending on GPU you might want to either turn off anistropic filtering or setting it to 2x at most if you are running a higher texture budget.
Filtering higher resolution textures is taxing as all hell, so might want to turn it down for a bit more performance (this wasn't a problem in older games, but the more pixels per texture you are filtering the more it takes.. just saying).

Another thing that might be worth looking into is how stable frametimes affect recoil.. this might be completely anecdotal or down to placebo but i feel like capping your framerate properly via RTSS somehow makes recoil smoothing easier (i have 240+ fps regardless in any situation, but capping at my monitors 165hz refresh rate with RTSS somehow made this feel better overall).
Think this might be down to how recoil works as it uses frametime to interpolate toward the intended "push value" when you shoot.

Dear Ottr,
I am a seasoned apex vet with about 500hrs on controller early in the games life and more recently 1300+hrs on PC from season 9 until now. I am a small time twitch streamer that started in January after buying a whole new setup. For all the hours I've put in this game I always feel like I just am not as good as I should be, until following this guide. I LITERALLY did not know that although my monitor is 200hz, windows had been capping that to 60hz by default and thus apex has been capping my game to 60fps. I just got off a 8hr shift at my normal job and it's 3am for me now so usually my apex games at this time would be pretty mediocre as I'm tired as hell. Literally my first game after following this guide and now maintaining a steady 197fps instead of 60, I shredded through a pubs lobby like butter with the easiest 12 kill 2.5k dmg game of my life. The game feels smooth as butter and I genuinely think changing these settings was the missing piece in my apex career. Thank you for elevating my game and sincerely changing my life.

"Prefer maximum performance" can cause stutter, when the GPU runs into the power limit, which creates a framedrop when the driver is then downclocking the GPU speed while the CPU is still requesting the same GPU render work. You can use this if you keep your GPU under the power limit for example by limiting FPS etc.

for those running on laptop keep it charged/wired for the fps

Viewtiful Joe! Memories from my childhood I didn't even remember existed! Thank you for this video ottr, I'm gonna go find my old ps2 and boot that game up.

6:14 Interesting, it's pretty well documented from numerous sources that RTSS has more input lag, but more stable frametimes than engine FPS limits (and vice versa).

If you have Anisotropic filtering on with 8x, 16x the game looks so sharpened up, and on most of map it's pretty distracting specially on Olympus, I use 8x with Anisotropic on even tho people say its blurry, it's not that bad just imagine something like FXAA or Nvidia DLSS, that's what you call blurry stuff, All depends on your monitor and your likings ofc but Anisotropic with 8x is pretty good if you have mid pc

BRO OTTR THANK YOU SO MUCH MY FPS INCREASED DRASTICALLY NGL

THIS WORKS SO WELL EVEN WITHOUT RTSS
