I'm not sure how anyone thinks he was cocky/arrogant, I like it when contestants are confident, not shaking like a leaf using up every lifeline on the 4k question because they "just want to make sure" — if he'd reasoned that last one out longer, he could have easily hit 125k.

never be too proud to use a lifeline. made no sense to set safety net when you have all four available, but you have to be sure of answers to not use one of four available!

What sucks even more about the Jesse Owens answer is that retiring for 8 years would make total sense given that there were no Olympics held in 1940 and 1944. Makes me wonder if they threw him in the mix because of that.
