Am I being dumb here but the guy's voice sounded like a pre-recorded/computer's voice, fair enough if it answered and was like "ello its Garreh, oow's this?" but sounded like a robotic/pre-recorded voice to me and not some actual man's voice who's just picked up the phone

The crew member with the wife has to answer other calls to her number in order to keep her phone available all the time for the participant's call...so he was about to say there is no service available but whennhe heard Jeremy 's voice he paused and gave the wife the phone to talk. Thats it. 😀

I can't believe the amount of people who genuinely think this was real. Yes, it was a recording. Jeremy is joking. For one thing, the phone-a-friend people have a producer with them when they're awaiting a call (Jeremy confirms that the producer is with them every time). Unless she's doing the producer, it'd be impossible for her to just get a surprise call while she's with another man. This should be basic common sense.

Just for anyone who doesn’t realise this is a joke. The man was obviously an automated voice saying there is no service also just to make double sure this is a joke the show actually have a crew member who sits with people that are an option to call to make sure they aren’t cheating.
