Lexus IS220d badly neglected... not starting and multiple electric faults...Fault finding and repair

This Lexus came to me after an alternator replacement and loads of faults... along with some bodge work, an dead battery, etc...
The car was badly neglected...

I will tell you what happened to this poor lexus
Someone reversed battery polarity, this took out alternator mega 100~150amp fuse because of heavy duty diodes, also it burned out brake light fuse which feeding push start system and a couple ecm fuses feeding main realys on the way

Hat off mate, customer is not ready to invest a penny, jerry riged fuses, fuel on minimum, weak battery.I would ship him down the road without question.So fucking sick snd tired of can you fix my car without parts.

Not critcal of you but the previous fixer: diagnosing battery charging is basics! Battery is 12v. To charge a battery the voltage needs to be > 12v. Typically an alternator puts out 14v. If you dont have 14v just after starting then there is a charging problem! A suggestion: you could have gone to a breakers yard and picked up a 2nd had battery for £20 and drop it in. I normally do this and insist on a minimum 1 month guarentee with a receipt (if it a dud they just give you another so no big drama for them).

The battery had dead cell, when reading 10.4 v or close to 10.5 v
12.66v -2.11v = 10.5v
It we’ll never take charge as 1 cell is dead

Hi boss, i had the same problem but the issue was with the starter motor was bad, when car is hot, it needed 2 batteries to start. Solve with a new starter"70$", still a lot cheaper than a new battery" 150$"

I would have walked away from this car. You can't know what else has been bodged and will go wrong just after you given them the billmthen blame you for causing any further issues.

Why was there no battery light on it's a Toyota/Lexus those alternators usually don't fail it's a fuse

FYI; IS220d has a Fuel Priming Switch which is located on the Dash, on the right hand side of the Steering Wheel.

well done again, what I really like about your channel is that it is REAL LIFE REPAIR .. yes we would all love a workshop like DiagnoseDan .. but we don't have and use what we've got at the time, whatever happens you always get it done, and even after doing night shift, good job, that's real world fix-it.
