I would take it one more step...in the action that makes a black mask also include selecting a soft white brush since you will need a white brush to paint on the black mask anyway. I have two separate actions, one to create a black mask and another to make a white mask. At the end of each of those actions it also picks either a white soft brush or a black soft brush preset I made depending on which mask color action I ran.
I made brush presets for a white brush and a black brush so while you’re creating the action just pick the correct brush color at the end and stop recording. This saves you time from having to manually click on a brush and picking either white or black every single time you need to create a black or white mask. I dont generally start painting with 100% opacity so my brush presets are about 40%...but thats easy to change when you start painting on the mask. This way the correct brush color is selected in the action and you can immediately start painting on the mask. 🥳

Useful tip bonus... If you do the Curves action on F3, then assign the Negative Curves to <shift>+F3 (or Ctrl). That way you use the same function key for the same function, but no extra key is normal and pressing the key in combination with SHift or Ctrl then is used for the negative version. Easier in organizing it.
