Good technique, I've found it works very well. Once you know how, SMD is way easier than through hole soldering

I have a question, could you take a small wire brush wheel, say for a low rpm Dremel, to clean of the oxidation off the older tip?

Do you have a preference for flux for this work? I couldn't see what the bottle was, but it seemed thicker than the stuff I use, which I think evaporates too quickly?

Could you show how to solder them to 30awg wire?

Do 0402 have any ohm? Because some are 1.00 ohm and some are 9.99ohm
