Almost. I'm waiting for Arris to offer a third-party DOCSIS 4.0 cable modem with WiFi 7 router. Especially now with Xfinity beginning its DOCSIS 4.0 rollout. The Surfboard G54 still limits you to DOCSIS 3.1 upload speeds of (at best) 20 megabits per second.

I bought the ARRIS G54 from Best Buy after deciding that this model would last longer than other brands and models. During set up the ARRIS app didn't work at all. I had to log into the device IP Address on the box to get into the device. After setting my password I tried to set the G54 up using the Xfinity App, it didn't work. After several failed attempts to get the modem activated through the app I called a service technician.
The service technician tried several times to activate the expensive G54 but the CM MAC address but the MAC address was giving him an error message on Xfinity's end. He said that the Xfinity network does NOT recognize that MAC address as being compatible with their network. The text "compatible with Xfinity" is printed right on the box. After another hour of the Xfinity technician trying to get the G54 MAC address to take he finally gave up and concluded that either the MAC address is not correct or the modem is defective. He said that I'd have to talk to ARRIS. He even offered to wait on the line while I called from another phone to discuss the issue with ARRIS. I called and got a message saying that ARRIS Support was closed for the day, it was 7:30pm Pacific Time.
The Xfinity Technician recommend thatI return it to Best Buy and get a Netgear product instead, I'll try with ARRIS because I really want this will work. I read another review in which the purchaser had the same issue with Xfinity and the MAC address.

I’m a little confused - do I still need to have a router with this? Or is this a 2 in 1? If you still need a router, Would this work with the Asus ROG Capture GT-Axe 16000 6ghz?
