The best deer hunting wind direction is not as common as you may think! In fact, each wind direction is fairly equal, throughout the entire deer hunting season. One wind direction really sticks out though, and has accounted for over 50% of my best bucks. Make sure to follow these wind direction rules so that you can find the best potential of deer hunting success this Fall.

After finding thr best wind to hunt deer in, learn how to identify, track and hunt all 6 phases of the rut in my latest Rut Hunting web class, "How To Hunt The Rut". Check it out here:

Make sure that you are following my proven, wind and weather based hunt predictions when you end out to hunt the Annual Whitetail Rut. Check out HuntCast, at:

I just did a historical weather search for the 10pt buck I killed Nov 1st last year...NW wind, 20 degree temp drop through the day, shot him at 5:45pm cruising to the gas easement on my property for some clover and alfalfa. I wish I could say I planned it like that, but it just happened to be the 1st day I hunted w me as the shooter after my 2 sons got deer on the ground. The Good Lord set me up, lol. Great info Jeff! Thanks for teaching me to be a better, more watchful hunter! Have a blessed season

You nail it every time. No other channel has this type of content. I've killed in Oklahoma the first northwest wind of the season for the last 10 years.

Just broadcast the first of the Rye Grain for this year over my food plot thanks to you! When they come off of the corn to the acorns is when I seeded the plot these last 2 years, and in Northeast GA it gives the perfect growth. Following your advice, I've gone from a doe factory to seeing better bucks all season long. Small property, too small for bedding and food, but placed in between both so it usually works. Thanks for all the great info

Jeff, I have been watching a lot of your videos. I have been following the technique of waiting for the right day, NW wind and temp change. Well, it happened here in Jackson County, MI. last Saturday evening. I hunted the 20 MPH NW wind in a stand I left alone. Got there, checked the chip and had 3 shooters on film. Took a 4.5 yr old that evening! Thanks for all the good information! Good luck to you and your crew!

In NW Jersey this morning, Had a 4 point with a 5th nub come in from behind right up to my climbing sticks, sniffed them, then kept coming right in front of me eating the whole time. Wind was coming from E / NE. Never had one come that close. Buddies said my sent was right.

Lol I was just talking about the temps here in NC last night..here I dont think it's just the temp drop (in early season) it's so humid here that when that makes a big drop it (feels like) the temp droped 15 degrees even though it didn't

Right before a big storm is a good time to fish. Right after as my dad would say you can fish your best spot and it's like the fish just close their mouths... so just go fishing before a front and hunt after the front. I remember you saying something about bad days to hunt are usually good days to fish and vice versa.

Just after a nor' Easter the wind shifts from north east to north west for a tight little window, I've always found that to be the best time to be out there . Here in the north east.

So here's my question, I live in Northwest Arkansas. All week we had 80 to 90 degree weather. Last night it dropped to 50s and 2 tornados with 60 to 80 mph winds that came right towards where I live. Sirens went off from 1am to 2am this morning. Tons of rain, thunder and lightening. Huntcast on huntwise said the lowest percentage to see a deer was around 91 percent. Rest of the day was 100% all morning and evening. I spent the entire day from 5am till 7pm in 2 different stand locations. Both with the wind going to my face so they couldn't scent me in any way. Not 1 of the 13 deer I regularly see, not 1 of the 2, 8 pointers moved nor did my target buck. I thought surely today is the day. 20 mph winds in the morning till evening when it died down to around 10 mph roughly. Hunting private land. Hunted 1 of the 3 ridges and hunted 1 of the 4 valleys. what's to blame here? My brother in law is a moon phase fanatic and said that's why. He said dont listen to these apps all they do is follow the weather channel. I've watched your videos for a long long time. Never commented till now. I'm just stumped. Maybe the October lul trumps all. I fight with brother in law on the whole moon phase nonsense. But idk. Today just really stunk.

Hope the NW wind is soon referenced as " a Venti wind "! It's youth opener in WI today, can't wait to see effects of neighbors pressuring their land

Jeff, I have been watching you for a few years now and have enjoyed watching your channel grow. I also find alot of your foodplot videos helpful. I must say it surprises me to see you continue to promote Huntwise when they have not so good reviews and alot of cases improper charges for services after people cancel services. I personally know people that this has happened too. All you have to do is search there reviews to see the complaints. I would hate to see you suffer from the birds of a feather mentality as you have worked long and hard to attain your success. Wish you all the best.
