I've had a lot of people ask in the comments of my previous videos about what the best programming languages to learn when starting out. So in this video I try to lay out my three favorite programming languages for beginners who are just starting out and a little background on why I recommend each language.

Hopefully this video answers your questions about what the best programming languages are when you are a brand new beginner. I tried to lay out my thoughts on why I think each is a good option but what do you think? Do these make sense? Have you tried any of these languages and found them to be difficult or boring?

If you wanna code in Python. Learn Python.
If you wanna code in Java. Learn Java.
If you wanna code in C#. Learn C#.
If you wanna code in C++. Learn C++.
If you wanna code in HTML. Well, don't.

I really think the first programming language anyone should learn is C. it's perfect for teaching you how memory works and how other languages implement things which I see a lot of people struggle with. if you' learn C other languages will make much more sense.

Your channel, this comment section along with others, absolutely invaluable. I am in a similar situation that you were, working in a field/fields that just seem like a dead end and I do not enjoy. You all have motivated me to take the plunge. Thank you.

As a nearly 40 year old who is starting his software engineering degree and ultimately a new career path, I have really appreciated the content on YouTube to help start mapping out my which directions I want to go... You, YK, and the guy on TechLead all have great insight and though you all have slightly different takes on things, there are some common strands of info that I am able to lock in on and start pursuing... Thank you for making these videos!

I disliked JavaScript and considered it inferior to other languages. After learning PHP and python, those "weird things" of javascript became more and more acceptable to me. Now I think JavaScript is really awesome and Nodejs is definitely a big reward to JavaScript developers.

Total new beginner. Retired Army. Got back from overseas 8 months ago. And I am watching these Utube videos to get some insight. Started a week ago with Pythom & PyCharm. Reading a Coding for Dummies book. Just ramping up slowly 🐌. Thanks for the video.

The first programming language that I learned was BASIC in 1982. After typing a one-page programme to calculate the roots of a quadratic equation I was hooked...maybe addicted is a more accurate way to describe my reaction.

I’m a beginner and someone told me to start off with visual basic and it was quite easy.
So i got the Headfirst JavaScript book on Amazon and it has actually helped me a lot this past week. Thanks a lot Andy Sterkowitz

based on everything I've learned on coding in the last year...it was recommended I learn JS and then python. After that, it's up to you. So I agree with the list. :)
