I know a dad that raised his 4 boys from the time they were toddlers (he worked full-time)... these young adult men are the most respectful and successful I've ever met. They are in their twenties now and still love hanging out with their dad as one of their best friends. I am so proud of them all

I have been a stay at home father for 14 years now, after working professionally for 18 years.

The only person who doesn't respect what I do is my wife. I think she is jealous...now that thekids are getting older. When they were young she would say how glad she was not having to deal with the play groups, other moms, etc. (I never joined any).
Somewhere resentment festered in her to the point where she had a workplace affair and claimed to want a divorce. The divorce talk has quieted as I have 'integrated' her into more childcare responsibility...odd how that worked.

I know lots of other guys who stay home. A pretty common theme is that the working wife can't stop trying to micromanage home. Generations of men have been working fathers, leaving the running of kids and house to their stay at home spouse. Women like to complain of the 'workload' not being shared, but perhaps it's not that at all. Perhaps it's their own inability to avoid scope creep and to let it go.
Ironically, it begins to look like women are truly meant to stay home with the kids, as they seemingly are the only ones who can get it right, lol!

I have been both a working man and a stay at home dad. There is a matter of self worth. A man is expected, and on the day I proposed, promised, that I would, provide for, protect and love my wife. Because of job transitions I was forced to be a stay at home dad. Yes ladies I know how hard it is. To replace my contribution my family had to do field work on a farm. We all applied for whatever reason I wasn't hired they were. It was not a step up for any of us.
