I’m an endocrinologist in Canada and honestly I learn more CME from your content, and podcast specifically, than I do from my actual CME at conferences etc. A sincere thanks for all you do.

Would love to hear about the process of book writing, why you chose that medium as opposed to what you already do with the podcast, and how you’re hoping the book will be received.

From the moment I saw Peter on a 2013 TED talk showing humility and compassion toward his former surgical patient I knew I would pay attention to anything he ever would write. Pre order completed.

I just ordered this book with the mindfulness workbook called "30 Days to Reduce Anxiety" by Harper Daniels. Both have worked well for me :)

Just finished the book.
Strengths:
1. Helps reader understand how being extra healthy now will allow for living longer and healthier when 65+ y.o. and being able to do the things you want to be able to do to enjoy yourself.
2. Left me with a much better understanding of the risks around the primary killers in America of cardiovascular disease, cancer, type 2 diabetes, and neurodegenerative disorders ( like Alzheimers) and a general plan of attack for each.
3. A good discussion of sleep and the critical importance of getting 7+ hours per night and suggestions to get there.
4. A good discussion of cardio exercise and how to achieve both steady state and internal training with targets for each and reasons for each.
5. Flexible dietary guidelines with the focus on cutting calories, if needed, for fat loss + hitting some daily targets for protein, fat composition, and limits on junk food and simple carbs and alcohol.
6. Introduction of a constant glucose monitor for most everyone, at least for a few months to learn individual blood sugar triggers for you specifically.
7. A heavy feedback loop for all of the above including sleep trackers, Vo2 Max testing, Dexa scan body fat testing, a couple broad strength tests, blood testing for glucose, cholesterol.
inflammation and a few other things.
Weaknesses:
1. You'll probably need a personal trainer to lay out a resistance program for you. I wasn't clear if he thinks Seniors should be in the gym doing Squats and deadlifts and other hinge work, which can risk the injury he wants to avoid. And pushing movements are probably wise to work opposing muscle groups symmetrically, even if we don't do much pushing movement in daily activities?
2. The psychological stuff I thought could take a more meditation, stress reduction, see- a- therapist-if- you-need-more approach, versus author's personal struggles/ learn from me approach.
3. I suppose a motivated reader, in broad strokes, could figure out 80 percent or so of what they need to do, but there's no substitute for finding a personal physician willing to order all the preventive tests and appropriate blood work and be in sync. with you. My doctor, thinking with Med 2.0 mindset, would not see the need for an angiogram CT heart scan or Aope 4 testing or detailed cholesterol panel, etc. Where do you find these doctors?
Overall, the book is well worth your time and will change your mindset on many things, even minus Dr. Attia in your corner to align you on perfect execution across the board. You could still make most of the right moves on your own.

How much has changed and evolved for both you and in science since you started thinking about writing a book? I still appreciate the invitation to your talk at the Broad 5 years ago, that belongs in my personal highlight reel forever. And obviously, huge congrats, already ordered text and audio versions, and I can't wait to read and listen to it!

Peter, I first learned about you and your work through Rich Roll and Andrew Huberman. The first thing that came to my mind was, who’s this guy and what’s his angle? And your hook was scientific data. That how I became curious and, when I saw your knowledge sharing philosophy and approach to business, I instantly became a fan. You don’t advertise for (dubious) stuff to pay your bills and chose to rely on your audience so you can stay independent. That’s why you’re the most credible guy in the space. Congrats on the book (pre-ordered :) and keep up the amazing work.
