Tempe is fermented soy bean. It is basically pressed soy beans with a specific fungi mold. I love them! What you need to do with tempe is to cut them into small finger like strips and deep dry it or air fry it. It will be super crispy! The perfect meat substitute and it is super yummy!!

Hii! Indonesian here! It's very interesting of how you cook the tempe like that. But usually for flavour, we usually cut them in smaller slices before cooking it. Then we salted the tempe while frying them. Resulting in a much more savory end result. Of course there are more ways to cook tempe, but this is the most common and simple way to do it. Indonesian here! Tempe is one of our most beloved side dishes. It looks challenging at first, but all you have to do is slice it and fry it! You can slice thinly so it's crispy all the way, or slice it a lil thicker. You definitely can eat tempe with any condiment you like, sambal, ketchup, sweet soy sauce, and even mayo! Hope u enjoy tempe more in the future🥰

Tempe is actually an Indonesian food, and i'm not surprised that Hanni is familiar with it since she used to live in Australia which is close to Indonesia :))

Tempe is plain, please add garlic, salt, and pepper. Marinade at least 15 minutes. Deep fried tempe is tastier, if you want to sear it, after it has brown color, please add little bit of water to cook it perfectly

Ex vegetarian here, tempeh is very similar to tofu, it absorbs whatever flavour its in! in vegan circles, its very common to use tempeh as a bacon substitute, slicing the tempeh really thin and marinating it overnight in a bacony marinade. Its so good!
