I find it really weird how superior Fearow is to Pidgeot statswise yet it’s so unpopular in comparison. It makes some sense when you think about it though, most people don’t care as much about that compared to the cool factor. A Pokémon’s presence in media (and how that presence is portrayed) determines popularity at least as much as actual in-game capability, and it has always been that way; Pidgeot has always been portrayed as being more cool in media and in the games (ex. first member of Blue’s team is a Pidgeot).

I’ve seen some videos breaking down how Onix is probably as flawed as it is on purpose because it’s designed to be a first boss to teach you type matchups and physical vs special attacks. It will either be challenging or completely trivial to defeat depending on what you hit it with. I really like that argument because it gives Onix a really good purpose in Kanto at least.

Fun fact: Wing Attack is 35 power in gen 1, which is the SAME POWER as Peck is. So even then It isn't worth to use it, just give it Fly.

Not only is Pidgeot completely overshadowed by Fearow, but Fearow itself is also completely overshadowed by Dodrio.

I know it's only a (dis)honorable mention, but Beedrill is kinda cracked in Let's Go, at least up to the midgame. TwinNeedle upon evolution, Poison Jab at 21, OUTRAGE at 37 if you wanna stick with it that long. Dude is finally better than Butterfree for the first time in its life.

As a kid, I remember being SO excited to catch Onix (and he had a really nasty catch rate too, so I had to really work for it), only to be insanely disappointed by this massive rock snake having such a PITIFUL damage output. He got boxed very quickly indeed.

I used Parasect and Rapidash in my first playthrough of Legends Arceus, and they were surprisingly great team members. Now I can’t imagine saying something bad about Crabgrass.

3:16 I think ponyta is more well known bc its the only(or effectively is in the case of platinum) accessable firetype in sinnoh before the post game if you didnt choose chimchar as your starter than it is well known as a kanto pokemon
