Horse flys hurt when they bite!! You want a full bug suit!! Better yet take snowshoes and go for a winter hike LoL Thanks for sharing. Hope all is well with your and the family :)

Bugs, heat another reason to hike in the fall! LT on my list! Damn list keeps growing! How many days you think if in good shape? Normally hit 15-20 mpd southern AT just off the couch for weekend trips. I hear LT is slow going...

FYI= Bee Keepers wear white for a reason. Bugs are not attracted to white as much. Permethrin from do my own pest control is the best place to order it prior to trail and soak your clothes and then hang dry them. You could run them through a commercial washer but don't dry them in the dryer. Spray everything with permethrin is a great rule to follow.
