After some time using the Gear Live smartwatch, Beau is ready to give his thoughts on the Android Wear-equipped device announced at Google I/O just a few weeks ago.

Design is very reminiscent of the pre-existing Gear watches launched at MWC in February, except running a pure, Android Wear OS and not the Tizen-based software used in other Gear wearables.

Thanks for covering the connection issue when the phone has been out of range, I have the same issue with phone as hotspot and tablet. I won't be buying anything like this until that's been solved. How hard can it be to fit a proximity sensor.

Great review! I've been using mine for the past 2 weeks and outside of some of the same complaints you mentioned I'm pretty pleased with the overall experience. I also own the first gen pebble and the first gen galaxy gear, I'm not sure if it's just the novelty of the live but its gotten far more wear than the others.
